What better date to celebrate Mathematics Day than on the 14th of the third month of the year, which aligns perfectly with the revered pi number, 3.14? This year, the robotics community at Alphatronic joined forces with parents, teachers, and students from Transylvania College to honour Pi Day in a unique and engaging manner.
In collaboration with Tasuleasa, a club from Transylvania College dedicated to supporting marginalised groups through social and educational projects, Alphatronic orchestrated a series of practical and creative challenges for their schoolmates. The event included a raffle, a treasure hunt infused with mathematical clues, and a pie contest, adding a delicious twist to the celebration.
The treasure hunt, a favourite among middle school participants, spurred them to persevere until they uncovered a box brimming with rewarding stickers. Meanwhile, high school students eagerly tested their luck in the raffle, adding an element of excitement to the festivities. And for those with a flair for baking, the pie contest provided an opportunity to showcase their culinary skills, with judges selecting the top five pies for recognition.
The winners of both the raffle and the pie contest were treated to an array of prizes, including scientific calculators, math-themed mugs, t-shirts, and bottles. These rewards not only celebrated their achievements but also served as tokens of encouragement to continue exploring the wonders of mathematics.
In closing, Alphatronic extends heartfelt gratitude for the enriching learning experience and the platform it provided to promote STEAM education. Events like these not only foster a love for learning but also showcase the boundless creativity and talent within our community.
