Interview with Helix Robotics 17860 Dean’s List finalist Eva Mihaela Pacea

1. Congratulations on being qualified for the Dean’s List! Can you share what achievements or contributions led to your qualification?

I’ve started to develop the non-technical part of my team: events focusing on a bigger outreach in my community, promoting the team, STEM and FIRST in my community.

I’ve also focused on signing up the team in STEM projects to develop the members’ knowledge on mechanics/ programming.

2. What specific projects or initiatives did you undertake within your team or community that contributed to your Dean’s List qualification?

I’ve founded and mentored the first FLL team in my city, i formed the first volunteers in our team for our meet and they remained in the team, i’ve potentially increased the outreach of our team (i reopened our tiktok account and it reached around 20k views in 2 months), i’ve hosted erasmus international projects (robotics introduction workshop) and made connections with Worldwide FTC teams.

3. How do you plan to leverage your Dean’s List recognition to further advance the mission of FIRST and inspire others?

I plan on learning as much as I can from the FIRST Championship and apply in my team every aspect to improve our strategy.

4. What personal goals do you have moving forward as a Dean’s List student within the FIRST community?

After highschool i still want to help the sustainability of my team and be an alumni. Other than that I want to mentor FLL and FTC team and found a FRC team. I also plan on volunteering in FTC and FLL events in Romania.

5. How do you envision your role evolving within your team and the broader FIRST community now that you have achieved Dean’s List status?

Now that I have the chance to see the strongest teams in the world, I will truly gain experience and my role in the team will be more and more important. I will be able to contribute to as many departments as possible and I will share my knowledge and experience with the team and the community.

6. In what ways do you hope to continue promoting leadership and advocacy for STEM education and robotics beyond your current achievements?

As I said before, gaining knowledge on all the FIRST events is going to help me build a strong team with a bright future in the competition. I am also looking forward to improve my event making, promoting and  mechanical skills.
