1. What has been the biggest challenge your team faced this season?
Our biggest challenge this season has been balancing the technical aspects of building an advanced robot with our goal of inspiring the community to embrace STEM and robotics. Effective communication with other teams and tight deadlines have also tested our collaboration and time management skills.
2. What inspired your robot’s design?
The need for efficiency and adaptability inspired our robot’s design in this year’s FTC field. We combined input from brainstorming sessions, lessons from past seasons, and feedback from other teams’ robots to create a design that excels in competition while maintaining reliability.
3. Tell us about the most significant event your team organised or participated in.
One of the most significant events we participated in was the Maryland Tech Invitational (MTI). Being invited to compete at MTI was a huge milestone for our team, as it brought together some of the best FTC teams worldwide. The experience challenged us to perform at the highest level, refine our strategies, and learn from other incredible teams. It was also an opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and showcase our robot’s unique capabilities on an international stage. The event inspired us to aim even higher in our robotics journey.
4. Which season was your first in the FIRST Tech Challenge competition?
Our first season in the FIRST Tech Challenge competition was 4 years ago, season “Freight Frenzy“. It was a learning experience that shaped our approach to the FTC competition.
5. What lessons have you learned from your competition experiences?
We’ve learned that teamwork and effective communication are key to success. Another important lesson is the value of persistence—challenges often arise, but staying determined and continuously working toward solutions leads to growth. Finally, we’ve realized how crucial it is to build strong relationships with other teams and our community.
6. How do you manage to balance team activities with your studies?
We use detailed scheduling and prioritization to balance our studies and team activities. Everyone on the team is committed to supporting each other, so we often share workloads and stay organized to meet deadlines while ensuring we maintain our academic performance.
7. Is there an interesting or memorable story from your team’s journey?
One of the most memorable moments from our journey was preparing for the Maryland Tech Invitational. It was our first time competing at such a prestigious event, and the process of refining our robot and strategies was both challenging and rewarding. The sense of accomplishment we felt when we saw our robot perform on the field, alongside some of the best teams in the world, was unforgettable. It reminded us how far we’ve come as a team and motivated us to keep pushing our limits.
8. What awards have you received so far for your efforts?
In the first year of our journey, in Cyprus, we received the Captain of the Winning Alliance award and the Think Award! For the next two years, since there were no competitions in our country, we participated in the Romanian competition but were unable to win any awards. Finally, last year, Greece organized its first-ever FTC competition, in which we proudly participated and achieved incredible results: the Captain of the Winning Alliance award, the Think Award, and the 2nd Inspire Award!
