Montana FTC Championship Recap

On February 6th, 2026, the Montana FTC Championship was hosted by the Montana Robotics Alliance (MTRA). MTRA is a non-profit robotics organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting young people through FIRST programs and engagement in the STEM community, while promoting hands-on engineering and teamwork skills. Twenty-four of Montana’s elite teams attended and competed at the competition in a high-energy showcase of their season journey. All twenty-four participating teams had previously qualified for the state championship at one of two Montana Qualifiers hosted in Butte and Helena.

The Montana Championship provided all of the teams with a fun, competitive experience, giving them the ability to test their robots, deliver presentations about their season journey, and most importantly, meet new people! This captivating experience made memories, developed lifelong robotics skills, and fostered collaboration between FTC teams across the state through Gracious Professionalism®.

Hosted at the Montana State University (MSU) Shroyer Gym, the tournament began with judging presentations that were sequentially followed by the qualification matches. Teams showcased their engineering accomplishments by both competing and collaborating to earn a spot during the final alliance selection. The dynamic playoff matches featured many outstanding scores and a great deal of high-energy fun.

This championship advanced a total of six Montana teams to the FIRST Championship and other Premier Events. We are excited to announce that Fusion 4133 and RoboScout Squad 18240 will be representing Montana at the FIRST Championship in Houston, Texas.  Prairie Bytes 26858, Nebula 22244, Thunder Lab 26706, and Lazer Sharks In Space 10662 will be advancing to Premier Events.
